the crown rivers
The design of this JD Wetherspoon pub is inspired by traditional and contemporary markets and street scenes. This has been achieved by the steel canopy structures that resemble market stalls, along with the cobbled tiles that represent the streets that markets reside on.
The pub is one of the largest airport restaurants ever created within a British airport, and the operation of the site has been designed for maximum output. Dynamic entrances from the concourse guide customers into the space through an active shop front, and booths installed throughout the trading area have room for customers to place their luggage nearby or on racks above.
A recent finalist in the 2018 Northern Design Awards, the pub is intended to offer an oasis of calm where customers can catch a break from the hustle and bustle of the airport.
