Nominated for a 2016 Restaurant and Bar Design Award, the striking design for this JD Wetherspoon pub hints at the urban landscape of London through vibrant textures and signage.
Located within the iconic terminal building of the airport, the design is based around a windmill formerly on the site, and the centerpiece is a large raised windmill structure. Ceiling features also echo the windmill through a canopy of floating millstones and beams. On the outside of the main pub area, an urban garden creates an oasis of calm where patrons can catch a break from the crowds. The fixed booths and high tables are all designed to enable storage of luggage, and power sockets are also incorporated into the furniture. A large heated gantry allows visibility into the hustle and bustle of the working kitchen.
